Are you a Bride in search of the Best Health and Fitness program that is right for you?

by on Sep.28, 2010, under Health and Fitness

Are you a Bride in search of the Best Health and Fitness program that is right for you?Intelligent fitness tips for brides who want to be ready for the biggest day of their lifeYour wedding day is fast approaching, and naturally, you want to look your absolute best as you head down the aisle. Before you freak out about what to do with your “trouble areas” and start thinking of all the reasons you hate working out, remember you can do this without a no-nonsense personal trainer or pricey gym membership. It just takes a little discipline, focus and a few smart fitness tricks!Walk if you can’t run!» Myth: You have to spend hours running on a treadmill to really get in shape fast.» Fact: Walking every day is a smart and easy way to kick off your daily workout routine. Keeping a steady stride will help you burn calories, lose weight and relieve any pre-wedding stress.» Go!: Try to shoot for at least 30 minutes of walking a day when possible, and do this at least 5 days a week. According to the American Council on Exercise, beginners can tone down the initial pressure by limiting both their pace and the distance they walk. This means you can break up the walking into manageable chunks throughout the day and still reap the benefits. Start off with a 5-minute morning stroll around your neighborhood; then increase your time and distance gradually throughout the day. Take a 10-minute walk during your lunch break and a 15-minute walk in the evening after work. Remember that keeping a steady pace is more important than the speed in which you walk. Your goal is to elevate your heart rate slightly (if you can’t talk while you walk, you’re going too fast).Don’t skip stretching!» Myth: As long as you break a sweat, you’re getting a full workout.» Fact: Giving your body a proper warm-up and cool-down isn’t just a necessary part of any workout; it has plenty of additional benefits. Stretching before and after a workout not only increases overall flexibility and boosts circulation, but according to the staff at the Mayo Clinic, it can also improve your posture and relieve stress.» GO!: Since most types of workouts cause the muscles in your body to flex and contract, you’ll want to stretch before and after each, and at least three times a week, to maintain a balance – especially if you don’t usually exercise. There’s an art to stretching properly. Breathe consistently and deeply, but be careful not to push your limits. It’s normal to feel a little tension, but you never want to prolong or hold a painful stretch.Snack smart!» Myth: You must avoid the vending machines at work at all costs.» Fact: Smart snack choices can be found among the usual junk food offerings. You just have to know what to avoid.» Go!: You’re busy and sometimes need to snack on the go – we get it. But if you must hit the vending machines, start by seeking out snacks that are low in fat, sodium, calories or carbohydrates, and beware of portion sizes. Live Healthy America ranks classic favorites like Doritos, Skittles and Frosted Strawberry Pop-Tarts among its top five “just don’t do it” vending snacks. Avoid these and grab something from its best-bets list: Baked! Lay’s Original Chips, Planters Sunflower Kernels and Smartfood Reduced Fat Popcorn.Don’t believe everything you read about water!» Myth: Drinking bottle after bottle of water will help you lose weight.» Fact: There is such a thing as drinking “too much” water, and doing so can cause cramping and sodium deficiencies among other complications.» Go!: People often say that drinking lots of water can help with dieting and intense workout plans. But if you dig a little more, you’ll find that some medical and health care professionals disagree. While keeping hydrated can help cleanse the body, drinking too much water could lead to decreased sodium levels in the blood. Stay hydrated, but be careful not to overdo it.References: Idea Fitness, LSJ.com News Forwarded By, Natalie PylesHealth & Fitness Expert, Nutrition Specialist, Bridal fitness, Author, and NSA Speaker

The Basic of a Good Health and Fitness Program

by on Sep.16, 2010, under Health and Fitness

The best health and fitness plans promote to not only alter your physical appearance, but also help you to defeat the emotional issues physiological obstructions that induce us to be insalubrious in the first place. Ask any person who has committed to a serious health and fitness practice and has experienced this life-changing procedure. They will certainly be the best source of inspiration and information when you are considering taking the journey to improve your own health.
Physical fitness is essential in maintaining a healthy body. This is a physical process that serves a person to look, feel and work better. It helps in carrying out the bodily activities expeditiously. Physical fitness means you have to work out your heart, lungs and muscles of the body regularly. But fitness activities change from person to person.
You have to make sure that your exercise never becomes a routine. So keep on changing things up on a regular basis. This means that you will have to change the timing of your exercise and also you will have to do different exercises. Here’s why. When you stay stuck in the same patterns all the time, your body becomes accustomed to it and will develop defense mechanisms that will prevent you from being fit. When you change things up regularly, it doesn’t have time to adapt, and your physical fitness appears to be at its best.
Activities to be integrated in the fitness plans have to be determined after examining several constituents of fitness. Checking weight is a crucial part of physical fitness. Muscle tone growth is another view that is called for by fitness programs. Suggestions of timings are given by a good fitness program. Actually exercises are adjusted on the schedules of work which and individual is taking up.
Fitness programs also advise diets for individuals. Your eating habit will also affect your health and fitness programs. The main idea behind choosing health and fitness programs is that they give you long term suggestions. These fitness programs improve your health in terms of better performance of important body organs. This fitness programs gives you better stamina and more energy because of which you feel that you are healthy and fit.
Health experts recommend green tea as a diet for your physical fitness program. You should make it a regular habit of having green tea with your daily diet. You should have it at least thrice daily. Green tea energizes your metabolism. Your metabolic rate is kept at a high rate due to the presence of caffeine and other chemicals in green tea.
You have to keep a watch and analyze your exercise session. You don’t have to work out for hours together. That will lead to injury, exhaustion and you will be tired and less likely to carry on with your routine the next day. Just find ways and means through which you can increase intensity and make your exercises more challenging a little at a time. You can add more pushups to your list of exercises and also make them harder. This will help you to burn more calories and keep you physically fit.

Nutritional Supplements For The P90X Program

by on May.08, 2010, under Nutrition

I get asked all the time about supplements and nutrition for the wildly popular P90X workout program.  This is an intense workout routine, so nutritional supplementation can definitely benefit people on the P90X program; however, recommending one supplement is hard.  First, the end goal of the person training has to be considered.  Are you trying to lose weight, shred up your muscles, or just last the entire duration of the workout with fatiguing?  An additional consideration is your current diet: how clean is your diet, what quantities are you consuming, how many meals and snacks are you consuming?  Some essential vitamins and minerals might already be in your current diet.  Consuming more than your body can metabolize is not going to benefit you.

Okay, we’ve all been in a vitamin store and the selection at some of these stores can be mind numbing.  I, personally, gravitate to the sports performance section where the more manly products are found.  These products have muscled up gorillas on them and half of them contain huge doses of stimulants, which can greatly impact your energy level but they speed up your heart and can cause energy crashes.  P90X is a program designed for lean muscle; thus, the typical body building vitamins aren’t necessarily designed for this type of training.  Picture a body builders program; low sets, breaks in between, lots of weight. These guys transform their bodies, but most of the guys on the label and ads are on heavy doses of steroids.  Supplement companies marking to this demographic usually take ‘more is better’ approach and load these supplements up with excess ingredients to bulk of their labels – not the person using their product. Again, your body will pass anything that it can’t metabolize.

I have noticed great success from men using MMA specific supplement brands, which are designed for Mixed Martial Arts fighters.  Reason being, most fighters do similar training programs to P90X that involve cardio, resistance, and plyometric training in one continuous session.  These supplements can help increase muscle mass and endurance while helping maintain strength and flexibility.

Next is the vitamin area, which has a lot of good offerings to choose from.  I would go with a good multi-vitamin, an omega-3 product, and a joint complex to round out the stack.  The joint complex should contain ingredients like glucosamine and chondroitin, which help protect joints from wear and tear. The omega-3 capsules are known as the “good fat”. Omega-3s greatly benefit fat loss, skins, and hair health.  The male or female multi-vitamin should have a good dose of all the daily minimums for the basic vitamins.

The proper supplementation program can help you reduce recovery time, balance glycemic levels, volumize blood flow, aid in fat loss, and help build lean muscle.  Sticking with the basics, most of which can be found at the local drug store, will greatly impact your results with P90X.  Don’t forget to eat healthy foods and keep a daily journal to help track your diet and progress. Best of luck with P90X!
