Heartburn is a condition that affects virtually everybody at some point or another. The esophageal lining is very delicate and heartburn develops whenever stomach acid starts to affect it. This condition is often mistaken for heart problems and is very painful. Another thing that you can do is to take an antacid before you lie down to go to sleep. Stomach acid won’t be able to affect your esophagus if you do this before lying down. Sleep with your head and shoulders elevated which will keep acid flowing down in your body instead of back up.
