For many people, regular sports can become boring. Many people who enjoy riding bikes are turning to a more extreme sport of mountain biking. Of course, the first step you need to take if you want to try mountain biking is buying mountain bike gear as well as a bike specialized for the sport. It is something that is both good for the body as well as the soul.
Choosing a mountain bike can be difficult. Many people go with a brand they already know and stick with that bike their entire life. The choice of a bike is up to each individuals comfort and experience level. Each bike company has a distinctive look and style.
One of the most popular brands of bikes is the Schwinn mountain bike. Schwinn is a bike company that is well known and reliable as well. They have a long history of bike building and many believe Schwinn is the best bike on the market. Many people know them for their casual cruiser bikes, but they have a great line of mountain bikes as well.
Schwinn has been manufacturing bikes out of Chicago since 1895. In the 1980’s when the sport of mountain biking took off, Schwinn began pumping out mountain bikes to eager customers. It took a while for the company to begin selling them because the marketing department believed that mountain biking would be a short lived fad.
The Diamondback bikes are also another very popular brand of bikes amongst biking enthusiasts. The diamondback is a durable and tough bike, great for the extreme style of riders. Many people, once they ride them, are hooked, choosing to ride this bike throughout their bike riding days. They become dedicated to the Diamondback bike brand
Choosing a mountain bike isn’t the end of getting prepared for the sport. You will need a helmet first and foremost. Safety is important for any sport, but one as unpredictable as mountain biking calls for extreme safety. If you are riding a trail and fall off your bike, you risk head injury or worse if you hit your head on a rock or the ground. You can even kill yourself.
Safety should be at the forefront of any bike riders mind. Not only is a helmet important, but making sure your bike is in proper riding order. A yearly tune up should be done before you are ready to hit the trails. If you don’t know how to do this yourself, you can take it to your local bike shop and for a small fee, they will check the brakes, the tires as well as the overall condition of your bike.
