www.nytimes.com Men’s Health: Saturated Fat – What if Bad Fat is Actually Good for You? www.menshealth.com Charlie Rose – NUTRITION PANEL 57:23 – 3 years ago Dr. Mehmet Oz, Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center (GUEST HOST); Gary Taubes, Journalist; Dr. Dean Ornish, Founder and President, Preventative Medicine Research Institute; Dr. Barbara Howard, American Heart Association — Transcend says: tinyurl.com Typically solid at room or body temperature, saturated fats are sticky and can cause red blood cells to clump together, inhibiting their ability to carry oxygen to the cells. Saturated fats can also cause blood platelets to stick together and form blood clots that can cause a heart attack or stroke. Reducing consumption of saturated fat improves the health of most people. They provide support to your cell membranes and serve as precursors to a variety of hormones and hormonelike substances. A middle of the road approach to saturated fat consumption is to consume about 3 to 7 percent of your daily calories as saturated fat.

Dean doesn’t look very healthy to me, with that super dry hair and turkey neck.
Just in my opinion, of course…

… soybeans; 4) soy protein in any industrialized form has to be removed through the use of solvents like hexane, which is basically gasoline…
…and the list goes on. Thanks, Dean, for giving us such a “healthy” suggestion, because God forbid we eat the meat from non-commercially-farmed cows, fed their natural diet of grass, and not only get our protein that way, but also high levels of omega 3 and CLA, which not only supports lean muscle, but also fights cancer. God forbid.

HA! Ornish says, “You can have them eating soy protein, they don’t have to eat bacon and eggs.” Perhaps he conveniently forgot about the many reasons why soy is TERRIBLE for you: 1) At least 90% of the soy in the U.S. is genetically modified; 2) Soy contains countless anti-nutrients and toxins which mimic estrogen in the body, encouraging the storing of fat around the abdomen and inhibiting organ function; 3) Soy has loads of trypsin inhibitors which prevent utilization of the protein in the…

Why oh why are they talking about a high protein diet?
Now we shouldn’t take this to serious as there have been alot of break trough resource on this matter seen’s 2002 that shows that saturated fat ain’t as dangerous as they though it was.

Id never felt this full-body energy cause Id never been off carbs & sugar in my whole life. In his Afterword, Taubes says he wished he had stressed the energy that becomes available to you after you go off most carbs, and ALL — I repeat ALL sugar. You WILL NOT miss it. There are Atkins shakes (not tasty but they work for that “need to grab something” moment) and candybars that have 1 gm sugar and are DELISH. I read every word of Taubes’ book which is 5 years of “research on the research.”

In 2007 Gary Taubes published “Good Calories, Bad Calories” and it was reissued in 2008 with an Afterword to the Anchor Edition. READ THIS BOOK. Atkins didn’t invent his diet!!! He read the prior studies, tried it himself, treated

obese patients who lost weight rapidly, it got called the Vogue diet after making it into Vogue magazine, people told their friggin’ friends how much weight they were losing and how great they felt (you get Atkins Euphoria after 3 days — took my husband till Day 6 — you’ve never FELT this energy!

by eating as many grains, beans, fruits as u want u r producing all the time insulin.. the hormone that makes u accumulate fat!! plus if u eat beans with oil u will burn those carbs and store the fat for later as u got insulin avalable!! U should not eat every 2/3 hours!! u need a break beetwen meals and eat only when u r hungry! explained deeply on Stop Counting Calories Start Loosing Weight by Zoe Harcombe

You don’t need need a massive amount of protein, you dufus Howard.
You eat a high percentage of saturated, yes saturated, fat and moderate protein.
You fucking imbecile. You haven’t even considered the possibility.
You’re so paranoid of saturated fat — the fat the animals we evolved eating have in them — it isn’t even on your radar.
You are such a useless medical “scientist” you haven’t even properly considered all the variables that are possible with just 3 macronutrients.
Seriously.

So Barbara Howard, the dumb cunt (sorry, just being generous and trying to throw a positive word to describe that mental midget somehow), says that if the Atkins’ diet is totally healthy, she thinks people need to moderate.
So… people shouldn’t do what’s totally healthy, they should moderate away from it.
Hypothetically.
What an idiot.
Ornish, who is a bit of an swarmy asshole, is at least smart enough to answer this question correctly.
Barbara Howard just isn’t.
August 25th, 2010 on 11:43 am
What’s with Ornish’s double chin and fatty cheeks?
Must be his Asian-style diet.
August 25th, 2010 on 11:44 am
Ornish does not advocate a low calorie diet. His diet lets you eat unlimited amounts of beans, fruits, grains, vegtables no calorie counting just eat as much as you want when youwant. Other food he suggests be eaten in moderation. You should read his book.
August 25th, 2010 on 11:44 am
Ornish’ studies where done in a very controlled environment and with a very low-calorie diet. A very low-calorie diet (semi starvation) does improve heart disease and cancer but is this realistic? You’ll never get skin cancer if you never go outside.
August 25th, 2010 on 12:15 pm
Fact is that if you cut out sugar & processed carbs, two things all 3 of these experts agree on, you won’t have a problem with -either- diet.
August 25th, 2010 on 12:45 pm
Ornish, Asshole, I agree.

1950: 2000 k/cals per day, 50% fat, 25% pro, 25% carb.
2000: 3000 k/cals per day, 25% fat, 25% pro, 50% carb.
Getting 750 k/cals per day from fat is less than getting 1000, Ornish. Asshole.
